Each worksheet type is a small program. You choose the age (4 to 10), the level (Easy, Medium or Hard), the language and the print size, and the program picks the numbers, words or puzzle within the limits for that level. For example, Easy subtraction avoids borrowing so kids can learn the idea first, and answers never go below zero. The same settings and sheet number always give the same sheet, so a link you bookmark or share brings back exactly that page.
This is what Medium looks like at each age. The examples below are made by the same code as the worksheets.
| Age | Addition | Subtraction | Times tables | Division | Reading |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-K (age 4) | 3 + 0, 5 + 0 | 3 − 1, 5 − 3 | – | – | 5-line first readers, 3 questions |
| Kindergarten (age 5) | 0 + 2, 1 + 8 | 2 − 0, 3 − 3 | – | – | 5-line first readers, 3 questions |
| 1st grade (age 6) | 10 + 10, 3 + 17 | 18 − 10, 10 − 10 | – | – | 5-line first readers, 3 questions |
| 2nd grade (age 7) | 60 + 10, 10 + 17 | 71 − 10, 21 − 10 | 7 × 2, 3 × 10 | – | Half-page story or fact text, 4 questions |
| 3rd grade (age 8) | 468 + 542, 602 + 597 | 542 − 468, 602 − 597 | 4 × 5, 6 × 6 | 25 ÷ 5, 42 ÷ 7 | Half-page story or fact text, 4 questions |
| 4th grade (age 9) | 8,532 + 7,860, 1,790 + 4,601 | 8,532 − 7,860, 4,601 − 1,790 | 85 × 8, 18 × 5 | 85 ÷ 8, 17 ÷ 5 | One-page text, 5 questions |
| 5th grade (age 10) | 36,008 + 17,573, 32,690 + 68,615 | 36,008 − 17,573, 68,615 − 32,690 | 36 × 18, 33 × 68 | 172 ÷ 4, 684 ÷ 4 | One-page text, 5 questions |
The levels follow typical grade goals: the US grade expectations on the English pages, and each country's own school years on the Brazilian, Spanish, French, German, Turkish and Chinese pages, which were written for those school systems rather than translated. Curriculums differ, and every child learns at their own pace, so treat the age as a starting point and move to Easy or Hard as needed. See the grade pages for what each school year usually covers.
How the answer keys are checked
Before every update, a separate test builds sheets with the real worksheet code for every type, language, age, level and print size, then works out each answer again on its own and compares it with the answer key. It checks:
- sums, differences, products and divisions with remainders, written the way each country writes numbers;
- missing-number problems, greater than / less than / equal signs and number patterns;
- fractions, including that the final answer is fully simplified;
- clocks, by reading the angle of the hands drawn on the page;
- picture counting and picture sums, by counting the pictures actually drawn;
- that every sudoku follows the rules and has exactly one solution, and that every maze has a way out;
- that every word in a word search list is really in the grid, in a straight line;
- that multiple-choice questions in reading texts and riddles have one right answer and no repeated choices;
- that no sheet shows broken text such as "undefined".
Last run: 27 October 2026. 105,462 sheets and 1,330,142 answers across 26 worksheet types and 9 languages, with 0 errors. A single wrong answer stops the update from going live. Tracing sheets and blank paper have no answers to check; we look at those by eye.
Our own texts and pictures
All 126 reading-comprehension texts, 308 riddles and the stories for kids were written for Fox & Pencil; we never copy texts from books or other websites. The 44 pictures on the picture worksheets were drawn for the site as simple shapes with bold outlines, so they print clearly in black and white. Word lists use everyday words children know; if a word sounds wrong or unusual where you live, please tell us.
Made to print well
Every sheet fits a 186 x 215 mm area, so it prints edge to edge on both A4 and US Letter without scaling. Click "Print or save PDF" and pick "Save as PDF" to keep a copy. The answer key prints on separate pages after the worksheets, and each sheet has room for a name, date and score.
Children's privacy
There are no accounts. A child's name typed into a name tracing sheet stays in your browser and is never sent to us. The play screens children use on a tablet have no ads and no Google Analytics, and kid profiles stay on your device. Details are in the privacy policy.

Questions parents and teachers ask
Are the answer keys checked by a person?
Every kind of answer is checked by an automatic test that works the problem out again on its own, which catches far more than a person could: the last run checked 1,330,142 answers. The reading texts and riddles were written for the site, and the test also checks that each question has one right answer and no repeated choices.
Which school standards do the levels follow?
The English pages follow typical US grade goals (similar to the Common Core), and the local pages follow their own country's school years, such as BNCC years in Brazil and CP to CM2 in France. Every child is different, so use Easy and Hard to adjust.
