Kiko the fox had a room full of toys. Blocks on the floor, books on the bed, socks under the chair.
One morning he wanted to play with his little red car. He looked here, and he looked there. But the car was nowhere to be seen.
"Every toy needs a home," said Mum. "Cars go in the toy box, books go on the shelf, and socks go in the basket. Let's find a home for each one."
Kiko sighed. Tidying up sounded so boring.
So Kiko made it a game. He counted the blocks as they jumped into the box: one, two, three! He raced the books to the shelf before Mum could count to ten.
And then, under the very last sock, what did he find? His little red car!
Now the floor was clear, and there was room to build a long, long road for his car.
"When everything has a home," said Kiko, "I can find my toys, and I have space to play!" And every night before bed, Kiko's toys go home too.
What Kiko learned
When every toy has its home, you can find it quickly and you have more room to play. Tidying is faster when you make it a game.
Talk about it
- Why couldn't Kiko find his red car?
- Which games made tidying up fun for Kiko?
- Where is the home for your favourite toy?
Try it this week
Put your toys back in their homes before bed. Colour a star each night you do it.
